Description
Outcome
Run the commit transaction through agentrepo commit: workflow state,
preflight, review, gates, confirmation, commit execution, verification
and unattended mode.
The commit and agent-commit entry points become thin wrappers.
With a sufficiently new binary, neither skill requires the other to
be deployed beside it. Preserve the existing shell only as a frozen
fallback through the N-2 compatibility window.
Part of #588. Shared-library deliverables belong to the #321 area.
This area owns the ports of commit-context and merge-authorization
reading in child 01 and worktree readiness in child 02.
Done when
- All nine children are merged.
- Every behavior covered by
tests/skills/commit/scriptsand
tests/skills/agent-commithas a Go test or a named reason to
retain its existing coverage. - Recorded parity covers statuses, streams, files, refusals,
--dry-run, and unattended environment compatibility. - Both harness packages, deployments, token records and lock
output are current. - CI passes on macOS, Linux and Windows.
- The leak scans come back clean for this epic's own text and
posts: gitleaks,check-leaks.shwith the repository's
private-strings list, and the leak review of each post. - A closing comment checks every item above against evidence.
Children
Build order follows this list. The two-digit identifiers are stable
references used in the child bodies.
- Read commit workflow state in Go instead of shell #850
- Print the commit preflight report from agentrepo commit #851
- Gather and stamp the commit review from agentrepo commit #852
- Run the commit gates and confirmation from agentrepo commit #853
- Write the commit and verify what landed from agentrepo commit #854
- Run agent-commit unattended without the commit skill beside it #855
- Turn the commit skill scripts into wrappers over agentrepo commit #856
- Retire the commit Bats suite where Go covers it #857
- Retire the agent-commit Bats suites where Go covers them #858
Children 02 and 03 can proceed independently after 01.
Out of scope
Changes to other workflow areas or the commit guard hook.
Deletion of the frozen shell, lib.sh, agent.sh, their generated
copies, and the compatibility environment reads belongs to a separate
post-N-2 cutover under #588. That cutover requires the applicable
owner exact-head review and is not one of these nine children.

Refinement: READY — Commit epic closes both round 1 gaps
Model: gpt-6-astra
Checked:
the epic body, child titles and dependency map. Required headings, nine-child scope, observable completion criteria and protected-cutover exclusions remain consistent.Gaps: None. Explicit leak requirements at
the epic body:27and the evidence-backed closing comment atthe epic body:30close both prior gaps. No new substantive defects found.Split: None required.
