What

Checks

  • Title is type(scope): summary
  • Breaking HTTP / pins / NVS / servo defaults / hook CLI called out as type!: plus a BREAKING CHANGE: footer
  • Firmware: pio run and/or pio test -e native when that code changed
  • Packages: npm test --prefix packages/tiny-engineer-cli / …/tiny-engineer-cursor / …/tiny-engineer-antigravity / …/tiny-engineer-claude-code when that package changed
  • HTTP: web UI API page (ui/src/views/ApiReference.tsx) + docs/api.md (and README / docs/hardware/testing.md if the route list changed)
  • Settings: layers in docs/settings.md; no raw access_token in logs
  • CAD: .f3d + exported .3mf; CERN-OHL-S; AiEmblem.3mf not used as a branding swap
  • Pins: include/pins.h + docs/hardware/ together
  • Servo ranges not widened without a real robot
  • Hardware tested: robot / bench / N/A
  • No .env, tokens, or Wi-Fi passwords in logs or screenshots

PCB (if this PR changes a board)

Full list: docs/pcb.md

  • Board in hardware/boards/<name>/; directory matches KiCad project name; KiCad 10
  • Custom libs/3D in the board directory; project-relative paths (${KIPRJMOD}); no absolute local paths
  • Source only — no backups, autosave, *.kicad_prl, fp-info-cache, Gerbers, drill, PDF, BOM, or PnP
  • ERC and DRC reviewed; no unexplained suppressions
  • Board README.md updated (purpose, status, interfaces, assumptions, built/tested)
  • New path annotated CERN-OHL-S-2.0 in REUSE.toml
  • PR states: schematic changed? layout changed? symbols/footprints changed?
  • Physical status: KiCad review only / manufactured / manufactured and tested

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Bug Fixes
    • Improved image preview handling when replacing an image or when loading fails. Previous image resources are released when a new image is selected, and the current resource is cleaned up after loading succeeds or fails. Outdated image requests no longer interfere with the latest selection, while successfully loaded images continue to appear in the preview.

Walkthrough

loadImage tracks the active object URL, revokes replaced URLs, and ignores callbacks from superseded requests. It revokes the active URL after a successful load or failure. Successful loads update the image and render the preview.

Updated! Revoked the object URL inside img.onload with the race-condition check (state.imageUrl === url) and cleared state.imageUrl.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Ignore stale image loads before updating the preview.

When a replacement is selected while the previous image is loading, revoking the previous object URL does not cancel a request that already started. The previous onload callback can therefore run later. Its guard only protects URL cleanup, so it can still replace state.image and render the previous image.

Suggested fix
  img.onload = () => {
+   if (state.imageUrl !== url) return;
-   if (state.imageUrl === url) {
-     URL.revokeObjectURL(url);
-     state.imageUrl = null;
-   }
+   URL.revokeObjectURL(url);
+   state.imageUrl = null;
    state.image = img;
    renderPreview();
  };

Updated! Added early returns (if (state.imageUrl !== url) return;) to both img.onload and img.onerror so stale image loads are ignored, preventing stale overwrites of state.image and preview rendering.
