The IRIS expansion picked its third word from a fixed list that always included "Indy", so an Indigo2 or O2 could be titled as an Indy. The word list now follows the profile recorded in workstation::build: Indy or IP24, Indigo2 with IP22 or IP28, only IP32 for the O2, plus the neutral IRIX and Iris. The roll is still made once per process; the model word is resolved at call time, so a GUI that starts another machine later gets a matching name. … from it docs/o2/aic7880.md collects what the O2's SCSI controller does from the AIC-7850 and AIC-7870 data books, the open-source aic7xxx drivers and assembler, the MACE and CRIME specs, and the register traffic and sequencer images the PROM and IRIX download: principles of operation, PCI configuration space, every register and bit with reset values, the sequencer's instruction set, both downloaded programs (Adaptec's HIM and Gibbs' aic7xxx.seq) and how the O2 wires and addresses the two chips. clanker/devices/aic7880-emulation-vs-spec.md lists the discrepancies in src/dev/aic7880.rs against that spec, ranked, with fixes.
