The Poetry challenges said there is no standard for grouped or development dependencies. PEP 735 dependency groups are that standard, the guide already recommends them, and Poetry supports them since 2.2.

@simonvanlierde Thanks, Simon! The update is accurate and the cross-reference resolves. Just one inline suggestion to apply.

Hi! A small fix towards #492.
"Challenges with Poetry" on the build tools page says there is no Python standard for grouped dependencies, and that Poetry doesn't follow the standard format for development dependencies. Both have been out of date since PEP 735 and Poetry 2.2.0, so the page counts something against Poetry that no longer applies.
[dependency-groups]on its dependencies page. Poetry supports them since 2.2.0 (September 2025, "Add support for PEP 735 dependency groups").[tool.poetry.group.<name>.dependencies]format predates PEP 735, and Poetry 2.2 and later also read the standard[dependency-groups]table. It links to the guide's own dependency groups section.poetry add --optional=GROUP_NAME). That flag still takes an extra name in current Poetry.Tests:
nox -s docs-testpasses locally, and so do the translated builds. I didn't touch the.pofiles.Best,
