The nightly kernel check fails in actions/checkout since 2026-10-30:
fatal: could not read Username for 'https://github.com': terminal prompts disabled
KERNEL_UPDATE_TOKEN is rejected, most likely expired, and checkout uses
it for a public repository that needs no token. Check out without it
and test the token first, so the run fails with an error that names it.
The token must still be regenerated, it is needed to push to
kernelkit/linux and to open the pull request.
