(pkg.go.dev)

Confirmed the transport limitation: the current PD Java client/server use plaintext gRPC, so this credential-file change does not establish transport encryption. The README now explicitly requires a trusted private network/loopback, or deployment-provided encryption across untrusted networks. Adding TLS only to this Go client would break the existing PD endpoint; coordinated PD/client TLS support remains a separate follow-up. This thread is left open to make that limitation visible.

Blocking: yes. Score: 3.5/10 (10 - 2 private security concern - 2 open plaintext PD thread - 2 Important at load_graph_bl.go:53 - 0.5 Minor).
The PR loads the PD and Schema credential files and releases receivers on initialization failure as described, but cancelling a load during slow initialization can now crash the Worker (inline). A security concern was shared with the maintainers privately.
Checked at 3ad4863: go build ./apps/... . and go vet on apps/common, structure, worker and graphio are clean; the three go test -race commands from vermeer-ci.yml pass; CI is green.
Earlier threads:
- Task.State race in the receivers: fixed in 3ad4863, resolved.
- RecvWg registration order in RecvVertex: fixed in 3ad4863, resolved.
- Plaintext PD gRPC carrying the secret (hugegraph_tools.go:349): still open; the README now documents the limitation.
This review covers 3ad4863.

Two reviewers independently traced the registration order; a bounded race-enabled test executed the real hello, scheduler admission and dispatch paths. 旧处理器在
PutSuperStepServer之后、SetTaskStream之前被挂起时,可能发生以下交错:
- 新处理器完成注册,并以新上下文调用
SetTaskStream。
🤖 Prompt for AI Agents

Addressed the outside-diff publication finding in #19 (review) with 73a6f64. Load, Compute and SuperStep now install their dispatch entry and publish readiness within the same ServerManager critical section. Existing context/Worker identity checks and conditional map cleanup are retained; no generation framework was added. The long Schema test assertion was also split. Validation: 31 cases across four affected packages passed with -race; focused vet and the dev build passed. Independent review checked the normal reconnect call chain and lock ordering. Reverting the two production files to 819b34d makes the controlled-handler regression fail on both publication ordering and replacement readiness. This is not a live reconnect end-to-end test. Current-head hosted CI remains separate. |

Cancel workers after partial compute dispatch
If an earlier worker accepts AsyncCompute and a later worker's compute stream disappears in the dispatch window, this return leaves the already-dispatched worker running while the caller only marks the master-side task as failed. That worker can retain task memory or wait indefinitely for BSP messages from workers that never started; track successfully dispatched workers and send them ControlTask cancellation before returning, as the load dispatch path now does.
Useful? React with 👍 / 👎.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Confirmed and fixed in a2eec0c. StartComputeTask now tracks workers whose send succeeded. If a later worker, stream or send fails, Master persists the original Error before best-effort ControlTask cancellation through each accepted worker's original session. Each cancellation has a five-second deadline; cleanup failures do not replace the dispatch error or prevent attempts on the other recipients.
A Master-only cancellation RPC was insufficient for normal Compute startup: a worker may not have created its task yet, or may already be idle after InitOK. Missing tasks now return standard NotFound so rollback can retry within the same deadline. Initialization, idle cancellation and the first-superstep handoff use the existing ComputerTask mutex; cancellation is consumed before initialization reports success or while awaiting that first step. A once guard prevents a late first step from decrementing the running count or scheduling cleanup twice.
Validation: affected Master/Worker race regressions, vet and the dev build pass. The existing single independent reviewer passed the new Master 8 / Worker 4 subcases under -race in an isolated copy. The same regressions compile against exact c2c18a5 production source and fail the intended behavioral assertions; successful dispatch remains uncanceled. Active BSP and graph preparation retain their existing cooperative cancellation behavior; this does not claim a new forced-cleanup protocol or full-cluster acceptance.

Keep batch error indexes aligned after authorization failures
When a non-admin batch places an unauthorized HugeGraph load before a valid CSV/load/compute request, this new error return causes http_tasks.go:135-163 to append a response for the rejected item but no corresponding task or errs entry. The later loop indexes errs using the response index, so the valid item reads past the end of errs and the endpoint returns a recovered HTTP 500 instead of per-item results; index successful tasks separately or preserve one result slot per request.
Useful? React with 👍 / 👎.

Cancel active loaders during partial-dispatch rollback
When an earlier worker has already started scanning a large partition and dispatch to a later worker fails, this LoadStep_Error does not actually stop the accepted worker: GetStatusError in worker/load_graph_bl.go:1308-1324 only changes task/graph state, while RunLoadVertex and RunLoadEdge terminate cooperatively only when Task.Action is canceled. The worker therefore continues reading and sending frames into the failed graph until the current partition ends, and its one-minute cleanup can free the task while that scan is still active; set the cancellation action or otherwise stop and join active loaders as part of rollback.
Useful? React with 👍 / 👎.
Vermeer could not load graphs when PD required a deployment secret or Server required authentication for Schema reads. PD requests now resolve a protected password file through
VERMEER_PD_PASSWORD_FILE/pd_password_file. Worker Schema reads separately resolveVERMEER_HUGEGRAPH_CREDENTIALS_FILE/hugegraph_credentials_file, without persisting deployment credentials in task parameters. Explicit invalid files fail closed; unconfigured deployments retain legacy behavior.Storage initialization errors now propagate before scans start, release initialization waiters before reporting to Master, and leave failed graphs safe to unload and retry. A blocked status RPC cannot prevent local receivers from leaving initialization. The barrier is held before publishing a task, receivers inspect its published initialization result, and vertex frames register before waiting. Initialization retains its original barrier pointer so cancellation cleanup cannot cause a second panic after recovery.
A small authenticated
GET /api/v1/workers/availabilityreports one readiness boolean for the credential's space allocations/common pool. It accepts no caller-selected space, requires no admin token and allocates no resources. Readiness follows explicit allocation precedence and requires every registered member of a candidate group to be Ready. Graph-specific candidates use exact keys from the authenticated space's actual graph names, without inferring ownership by prefixes. Worker connection publication shares the readiness lock and follows session construction. Both availability and scheduler admission also require the current Worker instance's three live task streams. Reverse gRPC readiness during hello is insufficient; canceled streams immediately disable readiness, cleanup preserves replacements, and missing initial dispatch streams return errors and persist the failed task state for synchronous callers.Validation: targeted common, initialization/Schema, receiver and scoped-readiness regressions pass with
-race; the dev build passes. Local PD gRPC + HTTP Basic Schema fixtures verify credential scope. A separate Schema observer loaded a fresh 1001-vertex graph on the retained real stack, with 1000 + 1 distinct results and real Chromium pagination. Independent cross reviews checked these changes. The cleanup regression fails against the previous source with a nil WaitGroup panic and passes with the fix. A real hello regression holds the ordinary memory-limit RPC: on 554daab it falsely advertises readiness and admits dispatch before streams exist; the new checked-in regression fails there and passes with the repair under -race. On 090bf27, a fresh retained-stack run established all real task streams, reloaded the source graph and returned six finite PageRank values. Existing structure Save/Load fixtures fail with an empty DataDir on both original and modified source, so a full structure-suite pass is not claimed.CI runs the affected regressions and loads its Buildx dry-run image before metadata checks.
PD currently uses plaintext gRPC; the trusted-network requirement is documented and its TLS thread remains open for coordinated PD/client support.
Hubble adapter, reproducible helpers and browser evidence: hugegraph/hugegraph-toolchain#84.
Summary by CodeRabbit
The missing-load-stream regression now checks in-memory and persisted task error state using an initialized temporary store. Independent old/new dispatch tests reproduce the previous nonterminal state and verify the repair under

The screenshots below record that executable commit; their immutable image files and provenance were added in c2c18a5.Partial compute dispatch is additionally repaired in a2eec0c: Master preserves the original failure and requests bounded cancellation through already-dispatched workers' original sessions. Worker startup consumes cancellation during initialization and while waiting for the first superstep; a missing task returns standard NotFound for bounded retry. The affected race tests, vet/build and one reused independent old/new review pass. This later source delta has separate validation; the earlier Hubble screenshots and the reviewer's score on 273e1ec are not presented as acceptance or a score for this new head.
Pause/cancellation follow-up in 241a6a5: initialization now waits for pause outside the task handoff lock and rechecks before publishing readiness. First-step and failed InitOK-report paths also check actions after releasing the lock. This fixes delayed cancellation acknowledgment through the existing Worker Pause/Resume RPC protocol; the current Master REST flow is not claimed to expose pause. Existing five-second rollback deadlines and ten-second cooperative pause polling are unchanged. Affected Worker/Master race regressions, vet and the dev build pass. The same single independent reviewer passed seven cancellation subcases under -race; exact 0d09ba0 production source with the identical new tests compiles and fails all three intended RPC-blocking assertions. This is source validation, separate from the earlier Hubble runtime run and from hosted CI.
