feat(navigation-bar): public circle icon and button for custom bar actions - #22
Conversation
…tions NavigationBarCircleIcon draws any glyph in the bar's 34pt token-stroked circle; NavigationBarCircleButton wraps it with the 44pt-tall touch area and press style of NavigationBarElement.button. Lets apps draw actions with no bundled element (refresh, a Menu label) to match back/close/plus. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com>

- Line 283: Update the menu label containing NavigationBarCircleIcon by adding a
rectangular contentShape after its existing .frame(height: 44), so the full
44-point label area participates in hit testing while preserving the current
layout.

Checked that nothing breaks today: the branch merged onto current master (incl. #23) builds clean for iOS Simulator, the merge is conflict-free, and back/close/plus render exactly as before (same 34pt frame, 1.5pt toolbarRoundBorder, toolbarRoundContent tint). dashwallet-ios tracks DashUIKit master in Swift 5 mode and calls NavigationBarElement.*.button only from view bodies, so the new @MainActor annotations don't affect it.
Requesting changes on the new public API before the wallet starts depending on it — details inline:
Menulabel built onNavigationBarCircleIconhas a dead hit area (only glyph + ring take taps).- No disabled appearance for
NavigationBarCircleButton. accessibilityLabel: Stringis rendered verbatim and never localized.NavigationBarCircleButton.bodyduplicatesNavigationBarElement.button(action:).- CLAUDE.md conventions: one public type per file, glyph via
DashIconSource+Image(dash:), typography token in the docs example, and the new types missing from thedocs/README.mdindex and the README table.
Non-blocking suggestions:
@MainActoronicon/button(action:)changes the public API isolation only because the new struct's init is main-actor-inferred. Anonisolated public initonNavigationBarCircleIconwould keep the old surface; the@MainActoron the privateglyphis redundant either way.- The hit width stays at the 34pt hug width, below 44pt; with two circle buttons 8pt apart that's tight. Same as the bundled elements today, so optional —
.frame(minWidth: 44, minHeight: 44)on the label would cover it.
Screenshots: since this is a visual component, please add small screenshots to the description once the fixes are in — the new Variants preview (enabled + disabled refresh, the ⋯ menu), and the wallet screens that use it (Masternodes / Storage Explorer refresh, Username voting ⋯).

- NavigationBarCircleIcon is hit-testable over its whole circle, and a new NavigationBarCircleMenu gives a Menu the bar's touch area. - Bar buttons dim to 0.4 opacity while disabled (bundled elements too). - accessibilityLabel takes Text, so it is localized like a Button title. - One internal NavigationBarButton backs both NavigationBarElement.button and NavigationBarCircleButton. - One public type per file; icons are a DashIconSource sized by the component (SF Symbols in Font.dash.subheadMedium); docs index and README list the new types. - The new types are nonisolated, so NavigationBarElement.icon/button keep their pre-existing (non-MainActor) isolation. - Hit area is at least 44pt wide without changing the element's layout width, so circles stay on the bar's 20pt inset. Thanks for the thorough review! All inline points are addressed in 74d9d65 (replies on each thread). I also did both non-blocking suggestions: 4 — isolation. The new types are declared 7 — 44pt hit width. I didn't use Verified:

Thanks — re-reviewed 74d9d65. Every point from the previous round is addressed (verified in the code), including both optional ones: contentShape in the icon + NavigationBarCircleMenu, disabled dimming, Text labels, the shared internal NavigationBarButton, one type per file with DashIconSource and the font token, the docs/README indexes, nonisolated instead of @MainActor, and the 44pt hit width. The branch merged onto current master builds clean for iOS Simulator.
One regression to fix before merge (inline): the new dimming in the button style stacks on BottomSheet's own .opacity(isCloseButtonActive ? 1 : 0.35), so an inactive close button drops to 0.14.
Non-blocking suggestions:
- Menu dimming.
NavigationBarCircleMenuapplies 0.4 outside a systemMenu; if the default menu style also draws its disabled label differently, a disabled ⋯ ends up fainter than a disabledNavigationBarCircleButtonnext to it. Worth a quick look in the simulator. - Overlapping hit areas. Each 34pt circle widens 5pt per side, so in the documented
HStack(spacing: 8)the two shapes overlap by 2pt and a tap in the middle of the gap goes to the later sibling. Clamp the outset or document a 10pt minimum spacing. - Press feedback. The menu gets the system highlight instead of the bar's scale 0.88 + opacity 0.7, so Refresh and ⋯ side by side react differently. A custom
MenuStylesharing the button style's body would align them. nonisolatedon public types. It's now part of the public contract of the three circle types only so the enum can stay nonisolated; keeping the public types on normal View isolation and routing the enum through the internal nonisolated views would avoid committing to it.- Disabled opacity as one constant. The library now has 0.4 here and 0.35 in
BottomSheet; one shared constant (or token) would keep them from drifting.

- BottomSheet no longer dims its close button by hand: the bar's button style is the only source of the disabled look, so an inactive close renders at 0.35 again instead of 0.4 x 0.35. The opacity is one constant, navigationBarDisabledOpacity (0.35, BottomSheet's value). - NavigationBarCircleMenu uses .menuStyle(.button) with the bar's ButtonStyle on iOS 16+, so its press animation and disabled dimming match NavigationBarCircleButton (no stacked system dimming); iOS 14-15 keep the explicit dimming. - The public circle types are back on regular View isolation; the nonisolated drawing lives in the internal NavigationBarCircleIconContent that NavigationBarElement.icon builds. - Docs: adjacent bar buttons need at least 10pt spacing so the widened hit areas don't overlap; previews use 10. Thanks! The blocking regression is fixed in 91b4f6f (see the inline reply). On the non-blocking suggestions:

Re-reviewed 91b4f6f — LGTM. The BottomSheet regression is fixed: the manual .opacity is gone and navigationBarDisabledOpacity (0.35) is the single disabled look, so an inactive sheet close renders exactly as before this PR. The menu on iOS 16+ now goes through the bar's ButtonStyle (same press animation and dimming as the circle buttons), the public circle types are back on regular View isolation with the drawing in the internal nonisolated NavigationBarCircleIconContent, and the 10pt spacing is documented and used in the previews. The branch merged onto current master builds clean for iOS Simulator.
One non-blocking nit: in docs/navigation-and-containers.md the new "at least 10pt apart" paragraph landed between "…as NavigationBarElement.button(action:):" and its code example, so the colon now introduces the spacing note instead of the snippet. Moving the paragraph below the code block (or to the end of the section) reads better.
