Description

Report the number of CSR matrix rows in constraint-size validation errors for both RHS/row-type and lower/upper-bound representations.

Issue

Fixes #2274

Testing

  • Built NUMOPT_INTERNAL_TEST from the current base and rebuilt after the fix on B300. The regression failed for all four malformed-vector cases on the base; the fixed regression and the existing validity test passed (2 tests).
  • pre-commit run on both changed files passed.

Walkthrough

Constraint-size validation errors now report the number of CSR matrix rows instead of the number of offsets. A new test checks the reported row count for mismatched row-type, RHS, lower-bound, and upper-bound vectors.

Changes: Constraint diagnostics

Layer / File(s) Summary
Report CSR row counts
cpp/src/pdlp/utilities/problem_checking.cu, cpp/tests/linear_programming/unit_tests/optimization_problem_test.cu
Row-type and constraint-bound size errors now report offsets.size() - 1. The new test checks error messages for vectors that are too small or too large against a two-row matrix.

Explanation

[#2274] The RHS, lower-bound, and upper-bound diagnostics now format the CSR row count as offsets.size() - 1. The regression checks short and long vectors for both constraint representations. The bound cases exercise the lower-bound diagnostic; the upper-bound check follows it. Validation comparisons are unchanged.

Full details: Docstring Coverage

Explanation

Docstring coverage is 0.00% which is insufficient. The required threshold is 80.00%. Docstring coverage is scoped to functions touched by this diff with cyclomatic complexity of at least 2. Documentation-only edits and deletions within surviving functions are included; unchanged diff context and fully deleted functions are excluded. Analyzed 2 functions across 2 files.

Resolution

Write docstrings for the functions missing them to satisfy the coverage threshold.

Unverified finding
Verification ran but could not confirm this finding. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.

Make the upper-bound diagnostic reachable and test it.

Both bounds have the same malformed size here. The lower-bound matrix-size check throws before the upper-bound check, so this test cannot verify the changed message at Line 288. If only the upper bound has a malformed size, the earlier lower/upper equality check throws instead. Reorder the validation to allow an upper-bound matrix-size error, then add a case with a valid lower bound and an invalid upper bound. As per path instructions, “When a bug fix lands, a regression test should cover the specific case.”
