Part of #2220 (C API and server items).

  • C examples: fix the include and library path commands, example file paths, and the cone formula.
  • simple_qp_example.c: use cuOptCreateProblem and cuOptSetQuadraticObjective instead of the deprecated cuOptCreateQuadraticProblem.
  • C API reference: document cuOptGetConstraintMatrixCSC and the presolve and MIP scaling constants. The attribute accessors and their selectors are left out on purpose.
  • Server: abort examples no longer pass -r -q / running / queued (501 on the proxy); the upload examples get a legacy-only note.

Reviewers by area:

  • Second-order cone formula: @yuwenchen95
  • QP example: @rg20
  • Presolve constants and the choice to leave the attribute accessors undocumented: @chris-maes
  • Server abort and upload notes: @tmckayus

Testing: pre-commit passes; simple_qp_example.c passes a gcc -fsyntax-only check, not run on a GPU; docs build not run locally. Docs only.

Walkthrough

The C API references and examples receive documentation and setup updates. The server examples update job-abort commands, and the routing examples document HTTP server support for solution uploads.

Changes: C API documentation and examples

Layer / File(s) Summary
Convex API reference
docs/cuopt/source/cuopt-c/convex/convex-c-api.rst, cpp/include/cuopt/mathematical_optimization/cuopt_c.h
The reference updates the second-order cone formula and documents the CSC matrix query and presolve constants. The header documentation updates the variable-count reference for the CSC column-offset buffer.
Convex examples and setup
docs/cuopt/source/cuopt-c/convex/convex-examples.rst, docs/cuopt/source/cuopt-c/convex/examples/simple_qp_example.c
Example links and package discovery commands are updated. The QP example creates the problem with linear data, then sets the quadratic objective using COO data.
MIP scaling and examples
docs/cuopt/source/cuopt-c/mip/mip-c-api.rst, docs/cuopt/source/cuopt-c/mip/mip-examples.rst
The reference documents MIP scaling constants. Example links and setup commands are updated.

Server job-abort examples

Layer / File(s) Summary
Abort command and API examples
docs/cuopt/source/cuopt-server/examples/milp-examples.rst, docs/cuopt/source/cuopt-server/examples/milp/examples/abort_job_example.py, docs/cuopt/source/cuopt-server/examples/milp/examples/abort_job_example.sh
The documentation describes aborting queued or running jobs. The CLI and Python examples pass the UUID without explicit state-selection options.

Routing solution-upload notes

Layer / File(s) Summary
Upload support notes
docs/cuopt/source/cuopt-server/examples/routing-examples.rst
The Python and CLI examples state that uploads are supported only by the legacy HTTP server; the HTTP proxy server returns 501.

Minor · Add an rpath so the example binary finds libcuopt at run time. · convex-examples.rst:39

docs/cuopt/source/cuopt-c/convex/convex-examples.rst:39
Minor · Stability & Availability · Quick win

Add an rpath so the example binary finds libcuopt at run time.

The gcc command passes the library directory only with -L. That flag affects link-time search. It does not record a runtime search path in simple_lp_example. If libcuopt.so is outside the loader's default paths, ./simple_lp_example can fail to load it. The run step does not mention LD_LIBRARY_PATH, and the same tree already uses -Wl,-rpath in its Makefiles.

Suggested fix
- gcc -I $INCLUDE_PATH -L $LIBCUOPT_LIBRARY_PATH -o simple_lp_example simple_lp_example.c -lcuopt
+ gcc -I $INCLUDE_PATH -L $LIBCUOPT_LIBRARY_PATH -Wl,-rpath,$LIBCUOPT_LIBRARY_PATH -o simple_lp_example simple_lp_example.c -lcuopt

Dangling reference in the new CSC entry. .. doxygenfunction:: cuOptGetConstraintMatrixCSC pulls in the header comment, and that comment says "size num_variables + 1 (see cuOptGetProblemIntAttribute)". cuOptGetProblemIntAttribute isn't documented anywhere, so readers can't look it up.

One comment, rest looks good

cuOptGetProblemIntAttribute is not part of the published API docs, so the
reference rendered as a dangling name. cuOptGetNumVariables is documented
and gives the same value.

Fixed in dfd03b7: the cuOptGetConstraintMatrixCSC header comment now points to cuOptGetNumVariables, which is documented and gives the same value, instead of cuOptGetProblemIntAttribute.

The QP and SOCP changes look good to me.

I'd remove the parenthetical (see cuOptGetNumVariables) entirely.
