Should PersistentAgentsClient also work with v2 Azure AI Foundry Agents?

It looks like only the "old" hosted agents on Azure Foundry seem to be able to be wrapped using the PersistentAgentsClient using:
new PersistentAgentsClient(projectEndpoint, new DefaultAzureCredential()). Did anyone get it working with configured v2 agents of kind prompt? If I look at the source-code of the PersistentAgentsClient, it looks like it predates the release of the "new foundry".
